Quonset Project Success!
The
Essex Community Club successfully raised $20,000 to help fund removal of two
Quonset Buildings locate at Essex Community Schools. $10,000 was donated
by ECC from funds raised the past two years through Labor Day activities and
Membership Dues. An additional $11,515.00 was raised through individual
donations. The balance of $1515.00 will remain in the Essex Community
Endowment & Trust Fund for continued growth. Thank you to all who helped
to make this project a success!

ECC "WOW! Project"

 Essex
Community Club donated five concrete planters to the city of Essex. The project
was completed May 15, 2008. Downtown businesses and community volunteers will be
watering them throughout the summer.

Quonset
Buildings
Essex Community Club voted at our January 24, 2008 meeting to
pledge $20,000 to the Essex Community Schools Quonset Building project!
The School Board will research options for removal of the building. Once
details are confirmed, a fund-raising campaign will begin.
Fund Raising
Confirmed City of Essex
funding for 2008. We have successfully secured funds generated through
the Local Option Sales Tax for the past three years. It is our goal to
continue this community support for ECC. Funds are utilized to help us
generate additional funding, illustrate collaboration and local support.
Letter of request & visit to Page
County Supervisors on Tuesday, January 15th to request funding in
fiscal year 2008-2009.

Auto Parts at $2,000.00 for 2008 Labor Day Demolition Derby!

~ Carnival is secured!
~ O'Reilly Auto Parts is Major Sponsor for Demolition Derby ~ Funding with
$2000.00 and promotional items as well as
advance sale tickets at O'Reilly stores in Clarinda,
Shenandoah, Red Oak.
~ Essex Community Schools Music Boosters are planning a comeback with food booth
this year!
Labor Day ~ 2007
We had a great Labor Day with successful events
and revenues! Come to the October 18th meeting to review the
results and get involved with future projects.
ECC ~$750 Donation
ECC donated $750 to the Essex Community Endowment & Trust Fund from
proceeds raised at food stands during 2007 Labor Day. Thanks
to all of the volunteers who helped to serve or provide food and to
all who came to participate in activities!
Carnival Success!
Over $1000 in net proceeds was generated by Carnival & BINGO during
2007 Labor Day! Volunteers shared more than 300 hours in time to
help set up, run, and tear down the carnival. The profits were
shared with the 9 volunteer organizations helping in the effort.
These groups included: Essex Boy Scouts Troop 75, Essex Housing,
E-Stars, Essex Community Club, Essex Youth Athletic Association,
People for Paws, Nishna Productions, Essex Child Care Center, Tarkio
Valley Antique Tractor Association.
ECC Grant Award Winners On May 1st,
2007 Essex Community Club awarded
$5,000 in grant money to go toward Business Community Development. The project
estimates are over $22,500 in total investments! There were
two qualifications for application:
1 - The Business or Project had to be located in commercial or industrial zones
of Essex, and
2 - The project had to be visible from the street.
Eleven businesses, building owners, and organizations applied. Following is a
note of those groups and their project. Please join me in congratulating these
winners and encouraging them on their projects.
Railroad Inn - Outside lighting on front and patio.
Antique Caboose - Installation of windows on North side of building.
Johnson's Locker - Tuck-point & painting of East side.
Stitches & Baskets - New exterior paint & sign.
Essex Community Schools - Landscaping.
Tech Support Services - New awning.
Study & Service Club - Landscape Essex sign at city entrance.
Post Office - Power wash and seal brick.
American Legion #333 - Paint building exterior.
Essex Medical Clinic - Repair awning and shingles on building front.
529 Iowa Avenue - Replace broken window and paint building front.
All projects must be completed by August 15, 2007.
Thanks to our ECC membership for hard work this past year to raise the funds
which have gone toward this project.

Update
Thank you to our wonderful members who support the community with
financial support and volunteer service. We had 44 Sponsor Members
& 99 Associate Members in 2007. All members are
encouraged to volunteer; individuals, businesses and organizations interested in participating in projects
(whether or not they are members) are welcomed to participate.
